Castro Spirits Bitteráneo Mediterranean Mastiha Bitters

A Taste of Chios in Every Drop

Discover the distinctive character of Bitteráneo Mediterranean Mastiha Bitters, an innovative Greek bitters crafted exclusively from natural Mediterranean ingredients. Made with premium-quality bitter extracts of exceptional concentration, it delivers remarkable depth, complexity, and an intensely aromatic flavour profile.

At its heart lies the precious mastiha of Chios, the world-famous resin known as the “tears of Chios.” Every drop captures the unique essence of this extraordinary ingredient, revealing delicate notes of fresh mastic water, subtle hints of the mastic tree’s wood, and its unmistakably refreshing Mediterranean character. Artemisia provides balance and structure to the bitterness, while a touch of Greek honey adds a gentle sweetness and a golden finish.

Created by the historic Castro Distillery in collaboration with renowned bartender Anastasis Vyziinos, Bitteráneo Mediterranean Mastiha Bitters combines traditional Greek craftsmanship with contemporary cocktail innovation. Together, they have developed a bitters that celebrates one of Greece’s most iconic and protected ingredients in an entirely new way.

Handcrafted in small batches and developed through extensive research, Bitteráneo preserves the authenticity, purity, and premium quality that define the Castro legacy.

Historically, bitters were valued for their therapeutic and medicinal properties. Today, they are an indispensable ingredient in modern mixology, adding complexity, balance, and aromatic depth to cocktails. Bitteráneo Mediterranean Mastiha Bitters brings a uniquely Greek perspective to this tradition, showcasing the extraordinary flavours of Chios mastiha in every serve.

Perfect for elevating Martinis, Gin & Tonics, Spritzes, and contemporary Mediterranean cocktails, just a few drops can transform a drink with layers of herbal freshness, subtle pine notes, and delicate sweetness. It also pairs beautifully with citrus-forward spirits, vodka, gin, and mastiha-based cocktails.

About the brand:

The Hahalis family, owners of the Tentoura Castro Distillery, has deep roots in Chios, the island famous for its production of mastic. Originally established in the 19th century, the business moved to Patras in 1939, where it eventually flourished. The family distillery is known for preserving traditional methods of extraction and distillation, producing premium spirits like Tentoura—a liqueur native to Patras made from cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.

In the 1990s, the distillery moved to a modern facility in the Romanos region near Patras, benefiting from the area's high-quality water and optimal environmental conditions for aging spirits. Today, Tentoura Castro remains a leading name in Greek spirits, blending tradition with innovation, such as collaborations with universities for product development and sustainability projects.
