Ktima Akrani
Organic Malagousia White Wine PDO from Kos 750ML
Regional Expressions Malagousia
Ktima Akrani’s Regional Expressions Malagousia is an elegant white wine that showcases the distinctive personality of the Malagousia grape under the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Kos. Made from 100% Malagousia grown in the estate’s vineyards on the sun-drenched slopes of Kos, this wine reflects both the island’s unique terroir and the winery’s commitment to quality viticulture.
On the palate, the wine is expressive and aromatic, balancing delicate floral and fruity notes with a fresh, vibrant character. Aromas often include white flowers, citrus, and gentle tropical fruit, while the texture feels smooth and engaging typically complemented by a clean finish that lingers pleasantly.
As part of Ktima Akrani’s Regional Expressions range, this Malagousia embodies the spirit of Kos: a blend of Mediterranean sunshine, thoughtful vineyard care, and a wine style that is both approachable and distinctively place driven.
The vines, with an average age of approximately 15 years, are now in their optimal maturation phase, old enough to deliver concentration and structure, yet vibrant enough to retain freshness and aromatic lift.
Planted in clay-rocky and sandy limestone soils at the foothills of Mount Dikaios, the vines benefit from strong Aegean sunlight and cooling sea breezes. This balance allows for slow, even ripening, preserving acidity while enhancing the grape’s naturally expressive aromatics.
Maturation & Structure
The maturity of the vines contributes to greater depth and textural complexity. Compared to younger plantings, these established vines produce lower yields with more concentrated fruit, resulting in a Malagousia that shows both aromatic intensity and balanced structure. On release, the wine is vibrant and floral, but it also carries enough weight and backbone to evolve gracefully in bottle.
Aging Potential
While Malagousia is often enjoyed young for its freshness and perfume, Ktima Akrani’s Regional Expressions bottling has the structure and acidity to age beautifully for 3–5 years under proper cellaring conditions. Over time, its bright citrus and white blossom notes can develop into more honeyed, herbal, and subtly nutty characteristics, gaining roundness and complexity while maintaining elegance.
Food Pairing
This Malagousia pairs effortlessly with:
- Grilled Aegean seafood — calamari, prawns, or whole fish with olive oil and lemon
- Shellfish and fresh oysters
- Light poultry dishes with herbs
- Greek mezze such as zucchini fritters, dolmades, and soft cheeses
- Asian cuisine with aromatic spices and fresh herbs
Its lively acidity cuts through richness, while its aromatic profile complements both Mediterranean and lightly spiced dishes.
Regional Expressions Malagousia is a refined yet approachable white wine expressive of Kos, shaped by mature vines, and crafted with the intention to be enjoyed both now and over the coming years.
