Ktima Akrani
SMB Syrah from Kos 750ML
SMB Syrah
SBM Syrah from Ktima Akrani is a powerful and expressive red wine that highlights the character of Syrah grown in the vineyards of Kos Island under the PGI Dodecanese (Kos) designation. It is crafted with attention to vineyard quality and careful winemaking, resulting in a wine with depth, structure and personality.
Tasting Profile
SBM Syrah shows a deep red colour with a rich bouquet featuring ripe blackcurrant, black pepper, olive pit and cured meat nuances, alongside warm spice notes that evolve as the wine opens in the glass. On the palate it delivers full body and robust structure, with concentrated fruit, firm tannins and a long, persistent finish.
Vineyard & Vinification
The grapes for SBM Syrah come from mature vineyards on the island, planted in the region’s characteristic red, stony, shale-influenced soils that encourage deep root growth and flavour concentration. Winemaking includes careful fermentation and ageing, often involving oak to develop complexity and soften structure enhancing texture and aromatic breadth.
Aging Potential
Thanks to its structural concentration and balanced tannins, SBM Syrah has the potential to evolve in bottle over time. With proper cellaring, this wine can develop deeper tertiary notes including leather, dried herbs and earth, while maintaining a vibrant dark fruit core. Many examples of Syrah from similar Mediterranean terroirs can age gracefully for 5–10 years or more, offering rewarding complexity with time.
Food Pairing
SBM Syrah pairs beautifully with rich, flavourful dishes such as:
- Grilled or roasted red meats, lamb, beef ribeye or T-bone steak
- Slow-braised lamb shoulder or traditional Greek stews
- Smoked or charcuterie-style meats
- Mediterranean herb-roasted vegetables with garlic and olive oil
This wine’s generous body and spice notes match heartier fare, making it a versatile partner for robust cuisine.
