About the Authors

Chef Argiro Barbarrigou was born and raised in Naousa, Paros. It was on this Cycladic island that she took her first steps into the world of cooking. There, alongside her mother, Konstantza, she learned to create recipes with love, dedication, and respect. From a young age, she developed a passion for cooking and delved into culinary techniques and ingredients. She learned to craft recipes and memorize their secrets. She grew up in the kitchen of her family's restaurant in Naousa. Self-taught but driven by a hunger for gastronomy, she expanded her culinary knowledge within Greece and abroad. She continues to be a passionate chef, sharing Greek cuisine with the world.

She has represented Greece on numerous occasions at international culinary events, always promoting Greek gastronomy, the Mediterranean diet, and Greek products. Argiro holds the title of "Ambassador of Aegean Cuisine for the European gastronomic region" and maintains this title to this day.

Turn on the TV nearly every morning in Greece and you’ll be charmed by its favorite daughter and chef of the people: Argiro Barbarigou. Known affectionately as the ‘First Lady of Greek Cuisine,’ Argiro has devoted her life’s work to sharing the secrets of authentic Greek cooking — modern and ancient — with loyalists and fans around the globe.
