"Kourabies Kanela", Greek Shortbread Walnut Cookies with Cinnamon

Cinnamon or “canella” – as we call it in Greek – is widely used in our cuisine and especially in our desserts. Its “hot”, aromatic flavor is quite distinctive, and is adored by fans around the world. We have combined it with nutmeg, turmeric and walnuts, all very “close friends” of cinnamon. We have really been amazed by the result!  A “winter” flavoured treat, ideal for breakfast, with milk or coffee.

Many regions claim the origin of the recipe and every place has its own version, which it proudly passes on from generation to generation.

Our culinary journey through Greece in search of the recipe that would form the basis of our own, inevitably led us to the port of Kavala. Many consider the recipe from Kavala to be the “authentic” one and it is certainly the most famous and widespread of all.

Ingredients: Wheat Flour, Butter, Walnuts 14%, Caster Sugar, Baking Powder, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Turmeric (Without Preservatives, Artificial Colours & Flavourings).
