Wild Lavender Honey – Serifos, Cyclades 250g
Wild Lavender Honey – Serifos, Cyclades
Harvested in spring from the nectar of wild lavender and native frygana wildflowers, this beautiful honey captures the untamed spirit of Serifos.
Light in colour yet intensely aromatic, Wild Lavender Honey is delicate, floral and softly herbaceous, with a clean finish that reflects the island’s low vegetation and sun-drenched landscape. It is a true expression of place shaped by sea breeze, rocky terrain and wild Cycladic flora.
Serifos, one of the lesser-touched islands of the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea, remains blissfully unspoiled by mass tourism. Known for its crystalline waters, sandy beaches and whitewashed villages perched against rugged hills, it offers the perfect environment for bees to forage freely among wild lavenders and native herbs.
About the Producer, About Nikolaos – A Life Between Islands
For Nikolaos, beekeeping is not simply production, it is a return home.
With a father from Crete and a mother from Serifos, his childhood summers were divided between two islands rich in culture, tradition and natural beauty. Though he once lived and worked in Athens as a musician and sound engineer, the pull of island life never left him.
Encouraged by a friend, Nikolaos began studying apiculture at the Institute of Agronomic Sciences, first as a hobby, then professionally. It wasn’t long before his love for Serifos and his fascination with bees intertwined. The decision felt natural.
Working closely with bees also awakened a passion for photography. Entering their micro-world observing the precision, harmony and intelligence of the hive deepened his respect for nature’s quiet perfection.
Today, Nikolaos runs a small beekeeping operation in the area of Agios Panteleimon in Serifos. His hives sit near the chapel of the same name, where he also serves as ktitor, the caretaker responsible for maintaining and supporting the chapel according to island tradition. Each year on July 26, the feast of Saint Panteleimon is celebrated with traditional music, food and community a reminder that this honey is woven into the cultural fabric of the island.
Limited, Seasonal & True to Place
As a small local producer, Nikolaos offers only limited quantities each season.
Serifos produces primarily two honeys:
• Wild Lavender & Wildflower Honey – harvested in spring
• Thyme Honey – harvested at the end of summer
Both reflect the island’s raw, aromatic landscape and are produced with deep respect for nature and tradition.
This is not mass-produced honey.
This is island honey — seasonal, floral, and quietly powerful.
