Stoupakis Ouzo Kazanisto

A true celebration of Greek distillation, heritage, and the timeless ritual of gathering around a table with good food, great company, and a glass of exceptional ouzo.

Produced on the island of Chios by the historic Stoupakis Distillery, whose expertise in anise distillation dates back to 1886, Kazanisto was first introduced in 1986 and quickly became one of Greece’s most recognised and respected ouzos. Inspired by classic Greek elegance, every bottle reflects generations of craftsmanship, patience, and passion.

Created using the finest fraction of multiple distillations in traditional copper stills, this beautifully refined 40% expression highlights the purity and complexity of premium anise, aromatic herbs, and carefully selected seeds. The result is a smooth yet character-filled ouzo with layered aromas, delicate sweetness, soft herbal spice, and a clean, velvety finish that lingers beautifully on the palate.

Balanced, elegant, and incredibly easy to enjoy, Stoupakis Ouzo Kazanisto, perfectly captures the feeling of the Greek summer,  salty sea air, long lunches by the water, traditional meze, grilled seafood, laughter around the table, and moments shared slowly.

Best served ice cold with water alongside octopus, sardines, prawns, salty cheeses, olives, and all your favourite Greek meze.

About the Family

Since 1896, the Stoupakis family has been crafting exceptional spirits on the island of Chios, building a legacy rooted in tradition, passion, and authenticity.

It all began with Ioannis Stoupakis, a father of seven, who set out with a simple cauldron and a vision. In Dafnonas, his hometown, he began producing ouzo using a unique recipe centred on Chios anise an ingredient that would define the character of the family’s distillation for generations. His ouzo quickly gained a reputation across the island, and by 1900, he had secured an official distillation licence, establishing one of the region’s earliest recognised distilleries.

The tradition was carried forward by the second generation, and in 1990, the founder’s grandson, Giannis Stoupakis, revitalised the family legacy by introducing and trademarking the iconic “Kazanisto” ouzo, celebrating a traditional, small-batch distillation method that remains true to its origins.

In 2008, the distillery entered a new era as Stoupakis Chios Distillery S.A., with modernised facilities designed to enhance production while preserving traditional techniques. Today, the distillery stands as a perfect balance of heritage and innovation.

While best known for its distinctive ouzo, the Stoupakis distillery produces a broader range of premium spirits and traditional products, all crafted with the same dedication to quality and authenticity. Each expression reflects the rich terroir of Chios and the expertise passed down through generations.

With state-of-the-art facilities, traditional copper stills, and a dedicated quality control laboratory, every step of production is carefully monitored to ensure consistency and excellence. The result is a portfolio of products that honour the past while embracing the future.

More than a distillery, Stoupakis is a story of family, resilience, and craftsmanship—bringing the true taste of Chios to those who appreciate the genuine.
