About the Winery
Hailing from the picturesque town of Velvento in Western Macedonia, the Voyatzi family, now in its third generation, is led by Yannis, an oenology graduate from the University of Bordeaux. Together with his engineer brother Nico and their father Harissis, they established a modern 100-acre vineyard from 1991 to 1994, dedicated to crafting uniquely characterful, high-quality wines.
Nestled at an altitude of 340 meters beside Lake Polyfytos, the vineyard's proximity to the water imparts a distinctiveness to the wines. Despite the continental climate, the gentle lacustrine aura tempers temperatures and maintains high humidity. The sandy-loam and clay-loam soils host a variety of local Greek grape varieties.
The estate's mission is to showcase Greek grape varieties with exceptional quality and distinctive character. Xinomavro, and Tsapournakos (Cabernet Franc clone) take centre stage, accompanied by various other indigenous varieties. Embracing organic principles from the vineyard's inception, the Voyatzi family is dedicated to the art of producing exceptional wines that reflect the essence of Greece's rich viticultural heritage.
